NEW TORSION SPRINGS AND REPAIRS ON A CUSTOM, WOOD, GARAGE DOOR

Repairs on a 24’x7’6” custom, 864 pound, wood garage door. We replaced, and added, reinforcement struts, replaced the torsion springs, replaced the outside hinges, and installed a 8500w side mount motor to this door. The door was sagging in the middle, had bent hinges and had the incorrect torsion springs on it. When we replace custom size springs, we first weigh the door with our heavy duty scales. This gives us an accurate weight to determine the correct size springs to order and get the door balanced. We can also calculate spring life options(by cycles) and give you several options for replacement. The standard spring life is 10,000 cycles but we can offer longer cycles such as 25k, 50k or more. Once the work was done, the door was balanced and smooth and ran perfectly with the side mount motor. Once we were finished with the repairs, we lubricated the entire system and checked the operation for anything unusual.

CUSTOM WOOD GARAGE DOOR IN NEWPORT BEACH

Custom, wood, garage door installed many years ago that we took over maintenance on. This garage door was installed by another company but had several installation problems that we inherited. The springs originally installed were sized incorrectly, making the door outrageously heavy. We ended up adding a 5th spring to the system to get the door to balance out correctly. The rollers and hinges also weren’t heavy duty enough for the door, so we changed them also to better ones made for the weight of the door. Lastly, the motor installed wasn’t strong enough to operate the door, and was always needing replacement parts. We changed out the motor to a LiftMaster 87802. Now that the garage door system is upgraded to handle the weight, it works awesome and has no issues and is reliable!Liftmaster 87802

MAKE YOUR GARAGE DOOR BURGLAR PROOF

Came across this great article on Forbes today. Have had so many people tell me about their garages/homes getting broken into lately, I wanted to do a little research. Some great tips here about making your garage, and garage door, more secure. Some things I can suggest are closing your garage door unless you are working in the garage, making sure your side entry door is very secure, if you park outside the garage remove all remotes, get a camera with phone app access, and regularly change your keypad code.

GARAGE DOOR MAINTENANCE

Proper garage door maintenance is essential for both safety and reliability. To make sure your door is operating correctly, regularly inspect the tracks for dirt, debris, bends in the tracks, or obstruction from items stored in the garage. Oil any rusting or squeaky parts; apply a high quality, spray lubricant to the springs, bearings, hinges and rollers. Make sure the door opens and closes smoothly. If your door has an automatic opener, replace the batteries in the remotes and keypad when necessary. For more involved maintenance requirements, call in a professional technician to check your door’s hardware, such as its torsion spring system—it can be dangerous to attempt this yourself. We recommend having your door professionally serviced at a minimum, of every 3-5 years-more if you use your door ex excessively. Making sure you perform regular maintenance, will ensure that your garage door retains its top, operating, performance. The last thing you want to deal with, is a garage door emergency.
